The Brazos County District 2 Volunteer Fire Department is an all volunteer non-profit emergency services organization that protects an estimated 6,000 people living in an area of 133 square miles located in north eastern Brazos County, Texas. We provide fire, rescue and EMS services to the residential, commercial and rural areas in our communities.
Precinct Two Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1977 as an all volunteer fire department in response to the need for fire suppression in NE Brazos County. At that time, the department stationed trucks at members’ homes and notified members of incidents by phone calls from the Chief’s wife. In the early ’80’s, the first fire station was built in Kurten followed by the second station in Edge in the late 80’s. In 1997, the department was renamed District Two Volunteer Fire Department. Today, we have three stations housing nine pieces of apparatus including two engines, two tenders, four brush trucks and one utility truck. We are supported by the ESD #2, Brazos County and donations. Although we are funded by tax dollars, your contributions are still needed and appreciated. District 2 VFD averages just over 4oo calls per year. With mutual and auto aid agreements in place, we work closely with several local departments to provide quality care and service to our citizens.
We are committed to serving our community faithfully and loyally with a focus on safety, life and property conservation. We pride ourselves in loyalty and professionalism that exemplifies the fire service.
